Life's creations

A work in progress summary follows:

At the beginning, the natural force of Life created, without rhyme or reason, the first organisms. These were creatures of entirely randomized size and anatomical structure.

Many of these early creations could not find a place in the world, and upon their extinction, became inducted into a pantheon of spectral idols. These are now known today as Myths.

Those who survived to perpetuate their legacy, their forms like shapeless clay, would be molded by the hands of a world weighing down upon them.

A fish cuts through water, a bird lofts itself upon scaffolds of air, and thusly all those who could undergo the act of becoming would avoid oblivion.

But although these convergences reverberated amongst Life's descendants, not all had their cryptozoological spark harmonized out of them.

Still today there exists a vibrant arrangement of beasts that resemble more the era of Myths than they do the anatomic harmony of many other taxa around them,

and while the reader may be inclined to believe them to be hybrids- as strange crosses between common creatures of Earth, such a perspective is backwards to the reality at hand.

For before the chicken, or even the egg, it was the Cockatrice.

Even the familiar-looking Humans that this world presents you, you will find that they are the actual crossbreeds. The non-aquatic parts of a Siren covering up the bull head of a Minotaur, for one example of many.

The Sphinx does not have the face of a Human. The Sphinx came into existence first. Therefore, the Human is the one who has the face of a Sphinx.

Always remember, this world is still one built of Myths.

The shapeshifting Mimics may be the closest extant glimpse at the random creations of Life in the original genesis.
