Currently in the works

Yet again, I've been radio-silent for a little too long for my liking, so it's time to write a really big summary of where I've been. These past several weeks, however, have had so much in regards to me getting back to actually developing stuff for this site that I don't even have to pull in my other interests or personal goings-on to make something substantial.

This post is entirely about the things I've got lined up on the shortlist to do here on the website.

To start: the RSS feed now has reached 20 entries as of the time of this post going up. While the RSS reader I use to test my own feed can log more than 20 posts, it only ever fetches 20 items to begin with when a feed URL is entered into its sources file for the first time. For this reason, any entry old enough to pass 20 in the list will be migrated to an archival page here on the site itself. Old entries need to be culled at some point anyways, and I feel like 20 is a good cutoff point. I don't know yet where I'll be putting that page, but I'll of course let you know when I decide.

You may also notice the simple border that I've added around the contents of the pages! I'd love to be able to make and implement some custom border assets in the future for theming, but for now I thought I'd at least give the current layout a simple 2-pixel border just to spruce things up for now while I continue to work on...

...Well, what follows is a list of work-in-progress projects I'm looking forward to making progress on, divided into three sections based on how much priority they're being given, with higher priority going first. Within these sections, the items are organized for the most part based on their level of completion. Again, the most complete items go first.

THE BIG ONE

PROJECT: (yet another) CSS rework

PROGRESS: Just complex and takes time, man! I want it to be as NOT a temporary solution as I can, since pretty much every single previous layout this site has had was a "temporary" solution and I just want to finally have something solid enough to work with that my future changes to it will be easy and superficial.

Related but not as much of a roadblock: I'll also get to (yet another) rework of the way the site handles its directories once I'm in the later stages of getting the CSS done. It's a good time to do it since reworking my page visuals is a good time to redo the navigation interface.

I'll decide the details in more depth when I'm actually in that planning phase but I do have some current ideas. I wanna make music-related things have their own place on here rather than being relegated to one blog topic among many, and I might change the wiki section to be more of a general fiction section so that I don't have to feel so constrained by the format.

IN THE MEANTIME

PROJECT: writing about the site's name

PROGRESS: Already entirely written! It was one of those projects where it was meant to be more concise before I got so completely into the zone on what I was saying. Only thing missing is I (ideally) need to take a picture of my cloak for use first.

PROJECT: vinyl collection page

PROGRESS: Partially done, just need to fill in some blank spots, and more importantly add images. Won't take much effort to get to a completed state.

PROJECT: proto-language conlang doodling

PROGRESS: Everything that I've decided so far has gone into a text document that could easily be turned into a page with the addition of a little bit of commentary.

PROJECT: gnostic-inspired religion worldbuilding

PROGRESS: General ideas so far, nothing written down aside from some notes for later. This whole range of ideas is a big sketchpad for me right now.

IT'LL TAKE A BIT

PROJECT: that fuckin' "about" page

PROGRESS: Hilariously, not even low priority! I just keep writing things that I INTEND as mere segments of the About but end up having so much to say about their topics that it suffices a page unto itself.

That page about the origins of the site's name was not originally intended to be its own page. You will see soon enough how lengthy it is. (It's not even that long, really, it's just very long for something that was only meant to be a paragraph or two originally.)

In that aforementioned directory rearrangement, I might make it so that each of the different directories have a respective 'About' section located on their indices, giving separate areas for 'about the site,' 'about me,' 'about my music,' 'about my writing,' etc. I don't know, nothing's for sure yet, maybe I'll hate the idea in practice.

PROJECT: KGLW shrine

PROGRESS: Held up primarily by the CSS overhaul, both in the sense that I don't know how much special theming I'll be doing for this page and how that'll interact with the new layout and that the overhaul is just taking up my focus. Barely anything currently written for it either.

PROJECT: more end-month personal blog posts

PROGRESS: Well, obviously I'm telling you part of it here, but that's the website-ward projects side of things and not the other real-life stuff I've commentated upon in the previous month-summary posts. This one got lost in an emotional tumult circa September that was really only visible to myself and nobody in the outside world. Hard to untangle, but I'll think of something, I suppose.

PROJECT: more Linux posts

PROGRESS: A torrent of multiple horribly placed moments of executive dysfunction has thus far sabotaged this one. It's not scrapped or abandoned. I'd love to return to making Linux posts and just overall diving back into my Linux fixation again, but it's just wound up on the backburner behind so many things. At the VERY earliest, I'll probably only bother getting back to this one after I rework the CSS.

Closing remarks

I don't have much else to say here, but it felt strange to leave off on the previous section with no fanfare. I've got somewhere fun to be tomorrow, so it's best if I finally consider this update complete and upload it before it gets too late in the night. I'll hopefully be posting again soon!
